How much does a corporate social media video cost for a small business?

← Back to the blog

A corporate video for a small business's social media in Spain usually costs between around €500 and €10,000, and in some cases more. It's a very wide range, but it's easy to explain. In Madrid there are starting prices of around €350. In Barcelona, a video for businesses usually starts at €499. A professional corporate video with more work behind it starts at around €1,800 excluding VAT. In Valencia, and in Spain in general, the usual range is between €1,500 and more than €10,000. For social media, the piece is usually short and simple, so many small businesses stay at the lower end of that range. If you need video every month, there are also flat-rate plans. One of them runs from €350 a month with 2 hours of filming to €1,000 a month with 8 hours. What ends up setting the figure is how much work there is before, during and after filming.

What makes a corporate video more expensive

The biggest factor is filming time. Filming for a morning with a single person behind the camera doesn't cost the same as two days with a crew, actors and several locations. Every day of filming pushes the bill up. So does moving to another place, because you have to pack down, travel, set up again and relight. Then there are the rounds of changes. When the edit goes back and forth many times, the editor spends hours redoing work, and those hours are paid for. These three things, filming days, locations and changes, are what make a video most expensive. The script also raises the price, as do the voice-over, which is the voice that narrates, and animated text or graphics. The final length, the type of business, the format and the urgency count too. A job for the day after tomorrow isn't quoted the same way as one with time to spare.

How to keep costs down and compare quotes

What brings the price down works the other way round. A single location, such as your own shop, workshop or office. A clear idea before the camera is switched on. Few rounds of changes. And getting the most out of each session: from one day of filming you can edit a main video plus 4 to 6 short pieces for social media. That way the cost is spread across more posts. To compare quotes without nasty surprises, ask for each one to list preparation, filming, editing and what they'll deliver to you separately. That way you can see what you're paying for in each part. The more specific you are when you ask, the more accurate the price will be. If you post video often, a monthly fee may suit you better than ordering each piece separately.

What to prepare before asking for a price

Before you ask for a price, jot down three things in a note: what you want the video for, who you're talking to and where it will be published. That's enough to get started. Then think about whether you're after a one-off piece or video every month, because that changes a lot about how it's quoted. We, Evan & Natalia Simon, do photography and video for brands and businesses in Gijón, Asturias and the rest of Spain, and also for a few weddings that we choose without rushing.
