How much it costs to get married at Palacio de Meres and what it includes

← Back to the blog

A wedding menu at Palacio de Meres costs between €200 and €300 per guest, and the open bar is included in that price. The manor house (palacio) caters banquets for a minimum of 60 guests and a maximum of 400. That is why the bill is worked out by multiplying the chosen menu by the number of people seated at the table. That rate applies to any day of the week except Saturday. As well as the banquet, the venue offers the ceremony, photography, music, transport and decoration. It also has its own team for protocol, security, beauty, cloakroom and waiting staff. The wedding can begin in the manor house's own chapel. If it is a civil ceremony, it can be held in the gardens, which have room for plenty of guests and for group photos. The manor house is 10 minutes from Oviedo and its origins date back to the 14th century. Couples are welcomed by the fifteenth generation of the family that owns it.

The number of guests

The first thing that moves the figure is the guest list. Because the price is per person, each guest you add adds a full menu, and each one you remove takes one away. The lower limit matters too: below 60 guests the manor house does not offer a banquet, so a very small wedding has no place here. At the top end, the list can reach 400 people.

The chosen menu

Next comes the chosen menu. Between the simplest and the most complete there is a difference of up to €100 per person. That may seem small for a single place setting, but multiplied across the whole guest list it is the decision that changes the total most after the number of people. The cooking is in the hands of well-known names in Asturias, as the venue works with catering from Nacho Manzano, Balbona and the Balneario de Salinas. One bride said that Palacio de Meres was her favourite from the start, but that it was beyond her budget precisely because of that level of catering.

The open bar

Drinks are not paid for separately. The open bar is included in the menu, so there is no need to add a separate item for drinks after dinner.

The day of the week

The day matters too. The €200 to €300 rate applies Monday to Friday and on Sundays. Saturday falls outside it, and the price for that day is not published: you have to ask the manor house directly. Anyone who can marry on a Friday or a Sunday already has a known range to work with. Anyone who wants a Saturday will have to wait for the venue to give them the figure before doing the sums.

Services and spaces on top

Then there is everything that is not food. Photography, music, transport and decoration are services the venue offers, but their price is not listed, nor is it stated that they are included in the menu. Each one you book is another item worth asking about separately. The same goes for the spaces. There are banqueting halls, a terrace, a garden area, a marquee, a chapel, a dance area and a children's area, and the manor house also has parking and a kitchen for the catering. Knowing which are included in the price and which are not avoids surprises on the invoice.

What to ask the venue

The useful step now is to settle two things before writing to the venue: how many guests there will be, even roughly, and whether the wedding will be on a Saturday or another day. With that, the enquiry can get straight to the point. It is worth asking for the exact price of each menu and which dishes each one includes, the Saturday conditions if that is the chosen day, and which services and spaces are included in the price and which are paid for separately. Visiting the manor house helps you see the chapel, the gardens, the marquee and the halls in person. That way you can decide with the figures in front of you rather than an estimate.
