A practical guide to getting married at Palacio de Villabona, Asturias

← Back to the blog

Palacio de Villabona is a 17th-century palatial manor house, completely refurbished, in Villabona, in the Asturian council of Llanera. It is listed as an Asset of Cultural Interest and is now rented for weddings under the name Palacio de Villabona - Jardines del Llar. It hosts civil ceremonies outdoors and banquets in elegant indoor halls, and holds just one event a day. Couples who have married here rate it 5.0 and 100% recommend it.

Where it is and how to get there

The postal address is 33480 Villabona, Villardeveyo, Llanera, Asturias, in the Nora Valley region in the centre of Asturias, in open countryside. It is a convenient spot for guests from all over the region, and a bus booked for the wedding is a lovely idea so nobody has to drive at night.

Spaces and capacity

The day flows through three different places. The civil ceremony takes place outdoors in the gardens, spacious and full of greenery. The drinks reception is served in the courtyard around the palace, with the façade as a backdrop. The banquet is served in the elegant halls inside. There is also a terrace, a marquee, a dance floor and a children's area. Banquets of 100 to 300 guests fit here. The palace is accessible for guests with reduced mobility.

Menu, prices and terms

The food is prepared in the palace's own kitchen: market-led, traditional, regional, signature, international and fusion. The menu starts from €134 per guest and includes the hire of the palace, floral decoration for the top table and guest tables and three hours of open bar, plus a welcome aperitif with 11 canapés, a ham corner, a cheese corner and flambéed scallops. There is no separate fixed fee for the venue. Menus adapt, with vegetarian, vegan, coeliac, allergy, diabetic and high-blood-pressure options. The palace serves the cake, though couples may also bring their own. The minimum is 120 adults in high season and 100 in low season, and the celebration can run until five in the morning.

Rooms and parking

Guests from afar find accommodation in the villages and towns nearby. The palace has its own parking, convenient for a banquet of up to 300 people.

If it rains

The civil ceremony is planned for the gardens, but the palace has covered spaces: the indoor halls, a marquee and a terrace. The halls are already the banquet venue, and the marquee gives another option so the ceremony or drinks reception carries on in comfort.

Spots for photographs

There are several lovely corners for photographs: the ceremony gardens with their abundant greenery, the courtyard around the house and the impressive façade, and the halls. On the façade, the coats of arms of Toribio Alonso de Villabona and his wife, Quiteria González Oviedo y Portal, lords of the palace, are preserved, and two of the six original capitals survive in the palace. You can see 24 photos and a 360-degree virtual tour to get a feel for it.

Contact and booking

To request a quote, you can write to the palace through its wedding listing. There is also a discount promotion and five gift promotions for couples who book.
