The photos on this page are from other weddings of ours (La Nucia), not from Hotel Narbasu.
Narbasu is the hotel and restaurant of the Manzano family, the family behind Casa Marcial. It occupies the Palacio de Rubianes, in the village of Cereceda, which the wedding portal bodas.net places in the municipality of Piloña. It sits in a valley at the foot of the Sierra del Sueve, surrounded by mountains and woodland, and from there you can see the Picos de Europa. For weddings, the bodas.net listing mentions a civil ceremony and a banquet for 100 to 270 guests. That portal is the only source for these details, and the hotel does not repeat them on its own website. According to the same listing, the palace hosts only one wedding a day, so on that day the venue is not shared with any other event.
Getting to Cereceda
Cereceda is in the east of Asturias, inland. The pages consulted give no address more precise than the village and the name of the palace. The bodas.net listing estimates about 45 minutes by car from Oviedo and from Gijón, 10 kilometres to Arriondas and to Infiesto, 18 to Cangas de Onís and 30 to Ribadesella. No other source confirms those distances. Sobremesa magazine places the palace about 15 kilometres from Casa Marcial, the Manzano family's restaurant in La Salgar, in the municipality of Parres. There is no figure for Avilés or for Asturias Airport, so it is worth asking the hotel. Nor is there any information on buses or trains. It is a mountain and countryside setting, and the sensible assumption is that almost all guests will arrive by car or on a coach hired for the wedding.
Ceremony, drinks reception and banquet
According to bodas.net, the ceremony can take place in the outdoor gardens or in an unconsecrated chapel, and in both cases it is a civil ceremony. The hotel does not mention either space on its website. The terraces do appear there: Narbasu itself says it has several, with views of the Picos de Europa and the nearby valleys, and the wedding portal also lists them among its spaces. That is where the drinks reception fits, although the hotel does not specify where it is served. For the banquet, the portal's listing gives two options. One is a marquee with views for about 180 people, which according to the same listing can be extended to 270 without splitting the guests across different spaces. The other is an indoor hall with a maximum capacity of 100 people. The bodas.net list of spaces also names a dance area, without saying where it is or how large it is. None of this appears on the hotel's website, which is why the figures are worth checking on the visit.
Food and menus
Narbasu's cooking is the Manzano family's. Its website describes it as cooking rooted in the land, similar to Casa Marcial's early menus, and says they work with livestock farmers, growers and artisans from the area. On bodas.net it says that weddings are catered exclusively by Catering Manzano with its own kitchen, that the venue cannot be hired without the food, and that menus range from 180 to 250 euros per guest. According to that portal, the price covers the aperitif, the lunch or dinner, the wine for both, the stationery and the decoration of the tables and spaces. Menus can be adapted to vegetarian, vegan and gluten-free diets and to any allergy. The hotel does not provide the cake, but the couple can bring their own at no extra cost.
Rooms and accommodation
The hotel has 23 rooms, divided into standard rooms, special rooms and junior suites, and both its own website and bodas.net say so. What only the portal mentions is that on the wedding day the rooms are reserved exclusively for guests. Its photos include a bridal suite and a standard double room. With 23 rooms, a whole wedding of a hundred people cannot stay there, so the remaining guests will need accommodation in the nearby villages. The car park appears on the bodas.net list of spaces, but the number of parking places is not known. The same listing states that the palace is adapted for people with disabilities.
If it rains
If it rains, there is covered space, again according to the bodas.net listing. The unconsecrated chapel can host the ceremony, which would then move out of the gardens. For the banquet there are the marquee and the indoor hall. The hall has a limit of 100 people, so for a larger wedding the marquee would be the option under cover. How the marquee is protected from the cold and wind, and whether the terraces have any covered area for the drinks reception, are details the hotel can explain.
Photography at Narbasu
Evan and Natalia Simon have not photographed any weddings at Narbasu, so there are no photos of theirs from the venue here. What can be described is what the sources say. The hotel's website highlights the terraces, with views of the Picos de Europa, and the wooded valley at the foot of the Sueve. The bodas.net gallery has photos of a ceremony in the garden, the chapel, the aperitif with an oyster buffet, the drinks reception decoration, the terrace, the hall, the landscape and the bridal suite. With mountains all around and no other weddings that day, there is plenty of room for portraits.
Booking and payments
Narbasu has its own website, narbasu.com, and bodas.net lets you request a quote from the hotel's listing. None of the pages consulted gives a phone number or an email address. According to bodas.net, the date is secured with a deposit of 1,500 euros and 50% of the remainder is paid on the Tuesday of the wedding week. There is no fixed fee for use of the venue, and the party ends at five in the morning at the latest. On the visit it is worth confirming these figures and asking who arranges the guests' coach, how many places the car park has, how the rest of the balance is paid and what the open bar includes.
