Castiello de Selorio is a palace in the coastal municipality of Villaviciosa, in Asturias. It is run by Deloya Gastronomía, a catering and events company that calls it its “grand Palace” and presents it as one of the most exclusive wedding venues on the Cantabrian coast. It is a place to hold the whole wedding in one location, with outdoor gardens and an indoor hall. The venue’s listing on Bodas.net, a wedding portal, adds further details that the palace itself has not confirmed. According to that listing, it is an eighteenth-century manor house, it works with groups of between 120 and 240 guests and it holds only one event a day. It therefore suits medium-sized and large weddings.
Location and getting there
The palace is in Selorio, within the municipality of Villaviciosa. According to the Asturias tourist office, Rodiles beach is just 4 kilometres from Selorio, inside the Ría de Villaviciosa Nature Reserve, and the area has three golf courses. Bodas.net places it, without confirmation from the venue, a few kilometres from Gijón in a countryside and mountain setting. No published source gives the exact address or the kilometres or minutes from Oviedo, Avilés or Asturias Airport, so these are the first things to ask the palace when booking. Almost all guests will arrive by road. Transport appears in the list of services on Bodas.net, which would need checking: if it really is offered, a coach from Gijón or Oviedo would save guests from having to drive back in the early hours.
Spaces and capacity
The gardens are the heart of the venue. Deloya Gastronomía itself writes that everything happens in the Castiello’s “majestic gardens”, and Bodas.net agrees that the drinks reception is served there. The rest of the layout only appears on Bodas.net, so it is worth seeing it on your visit. According to that portal, the wedding breakfast would be served in an indoor hall decorated with plant motifs, and the estate would have a terrace, a marquee, a dance floor, a children’s area and a space for the civil ceremony. The published information does not mention a chapel or say whether a religious ceremony can be held there, so you need to ask. Nor does it give a capacity for each space. The only figure is the one from Bodas.net, still to be confirmed: a minimum of 120 guests and a maximum of 240 for the wedding breakfast. On the same page, a couple say in a review that they married at Selorio with a cocktail-style format, so that format seems possible, although only that review says so.
Catering, menus and prices
The food is handled by Deloya Gastronomía, the same company that runs the palace. The Asturias tourist office speaks of a restaurant that is perfect for celebrations, and Deloya describes a kitchen and a service that work at the same pace so that the wedding flows without interruptions. The specific terms come from Bodas.net and need checking with the palace. According to that portal, the space cannot be hired without the catering, and menus would cost between €148 and €250 per guest. One of them would come to €182 plus VAT per adult and would include canapés, drinks, the menu, an open bar and a DJ. On top of that there would be a fixed charge of €30 per guest for use of the venue and a €1,000 deposit on booking, which is later deducted from the final bill. The same source mentions market-led, traditional and signature cooking, with adaptable menus and vegetarian, vegan, coeliac and allergy-friendly options. It also says the cake can be provided by the venue or brought by the couple at no extra charge, and that the party ends at 05:00.
Accommodation, parking and accessibility
Bodas.net states that there is accommodation for guests at the venue itself and mentions a rural guesthouse. The palace has not confirmed this. No source says how many rooms there are or whether there is a suite for the couple, and that number decides whether there is enough for close family or whether you need to look for hotels in Villaviciosa or Gijón. As for cars, the same portal lists a car park among the estate’s spaces but does not say how many spaces it has. It also says the venue has access for people with disabilities, something worth checking on your visit if any guest needs it.
Wet-weather plan
In Asturias it rains in summer too, so the wet-weather plan matters. According to Bodas.net, whose information the palace has not confirmed, besides the gardens there would be an indoor hall, a terrace and a marquee. The hall would be the logical place for the wedding breakfast, and the marquee could cover the drinks reception. Nobody explains whether the civil ceremony can move under cover, whether the marquee is always up or only put up when booked, or how late the switch can be decided. These are questions to ask on your visit.
Photography at the Castiello
This guide does not include our own photos of Castiello de Selorio, because Evan and Natalia Simon have not worked there. From what has been published, the gardens are the main setting. The palace itself describes them as the place where every moment “lights up to become a memory”. The palace building, which Deloya presents as one of the most elegant on the Cantabrian coast, is the other great backdrop for photos. Bodas.net mentions, still to be confirmed, the hall with its plant décor, a good spot for photos of the dinner. Beyond the estate, Rodiles beach, 4 kilometres from Selorio, could work for a shoot before or after the wedding. According to Bodas.net, the venue has three free-gift offers and one discount offer, and it is worth asking whether they are still running. On your visit, ask for the exact address and the number of rooms, and see where the ceremony would take place in good weather and where in the rain. You should also ask whether a religious ceremony can be held there. As Bodas.net lists photography among the palace’s services, it is best to confirm too that an outside photographer can work there at no extra cost.
