Where it is and how to get there

The palace is in Martimporra, in central Asturias, on a gentle slope inside a wide estate. Transport is part of its wedding services and the grounds are accessible for guests with reduced mobility, which makes it easy for older guests too.

Spaces: ceremony, drinks and banquet

The palace has indoor and outdoor spaces. For the ceremony there is a civil-ceremony space and a chapel, the Casa Palacio y Capilla de Martimporra, where couples also hold religious ceremonies. The welcome drinks reception takes place in the gardens, surrounded by nature, and there is also a terrace, a landscaped area and a marquee. Before the banquet comes an aperitif with 8 kinds of food and a cider corner. The banquet is served in an elegant indoor hall with a rustic soul, holding up to 250 people, and there is a dance floor. In all, the palace welcomes from 60 to 400 guests.

History and spots for photographs

The palace was founded between the 17th and 18th centuries by Juan de Valdivares and his wife Cecilia Estrada, and later belonged to the Marqués de Casa Estrada. Its doorway is richly decorated for a rural palace of its time, with a triangular pediment and the Estrada coat of arms on the second floor. Inside, the cobbled entrance hall, the weapons room and the main hall are still preserved. Near the chancel, under the family coat of arms, stands a sarcophagus with a well-known inscription: «This is the house of Estrada, founded on a crag, older than Velasco, and owing nothing to the King». The gardens and the countryside around them complete a lovely setting for photographs.
